Seven of DFI's technical committees have joined forces to organize this year's Super Pile Conference. The two days will consist of presentations on the subjects of Driven Piles, Augered Cast-in-Place/Drilled Displacement Piles, Micropiles, Marine construction, Testing and Evaluation of foundation systems, Seismic design, and Drilled Shafts.  The first day will be a combined session; the second day will be two concurrent sessions giving attendees the option to choose which presentations are of interest to them.

 

Presentations will focus on case studies, historical development, theory and design with emphasis on practical application, new technologies and ideas for future development. Equipment, material and instrumentation suppliers and vendors will be presenting their services as well in the exhibit hall. Presentation Proposal Submission

Presentation proposals are solicited on the following topics relating to Driven Piles, Testing & Evaluation, Augered Cast-in-Place and Drilled Displacement Piles, Micropiles, Marine Foundations, Seismic design and Drilled Shafts:

  • Seismic Considerations in the Pacific Northwest
  • Foundation Case Studies - Lessons Learned
  • History/Theoretical Background
  • Quality Control and Inspection of Large Diameter Drilled Shafts
  • Optimization of Foundation Systems
  • Innovative Construction Techniques Used for Constructing Marine Foundations
  • Innovative Foundation Design Solutions
  • Practice-Oriented Research

Potential speakers for Super Pile 2012 should submit a brief abstract (no more than 300 words) describing the subject matter of their proposed presentation.  Please include in the abstract document the above topic which you are submitting, the presentation title and the speaker name(s). The due date for abstract submissions is Friday, December 16, 2011.  Please email proposals to Katie Criqui at DFI -kcriqui@dfi.org.

 

Notification of acceptance and guidelines for presentation development will be returned to all submitters no later than Monday, January 23, 2012.

 

All authors of accepted abstracts will be required to commit to presenting their topic on May 16th or 17th and will be required to submit a PowerPoint presentation handout to be included in the seminar publication by Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Also, all accepted authors should consider developing their paper for inclusion in the DFI Journal

DFI is soliciting abstracts for a broad range of session topics on Foundations and Ground Modification Techniques.  The session topics are as follows:

  1. The Installation and Performance of Drilled, Driven and Energy Saving Foundation Elements
  2. Maintenance and Repairs of Drilled and Driven Foundations
  3. Alternative Deep Foundation Solutions offered by Ground Modification Techniques
  4. The Use of Foundations for Marine Type Structures
    1. Near-Shore, Off-Shore
    2. Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms
  5. In-Situ Testing - Performance Testing, Static load testing, Dynamic Testing, Statnamic Testing, Other
  6. Modeling - Static Analysis, Dynamic/Earthquake Analysis, Other
  7. Design and Installation of Foundations for Process Plants in the Gulf Coast Region
  8. Energy Piles and Sustainability
  9. Panel Discussion:
    1. Foundation Design versus Construction Means and Methods
    2. Regulations, Standard & Specifications (Including QA/QC)

DFI is seeking original, quality papers for consideration of inclusion in the 2012 conference program.  Submission deadlines and instructions are as follows:

  • December 9, 2011: Interested authors should submit an abstract of not more than 300 words online atwww.dfi2012submissions.org.  Abstract document should include author names, affiliations and contact information.  If you are interested in serving as a panelist on a specific topic, please indicate the panel topic in the abstract document.
  • January13, 2012: Authors will be notified as to whether or not they have been selected to submit a draft paper
  • March 23, 2012:  Draft papers due
  • May 18, 2012:  Paper reviews complete; decision on presentation status and comments to be returned to authors
  • July 27, 2012:  Final paper due - 10 page limit
